I know I know I am supposed to let my spoiler spoil me but I've been bad...



BUT! This is not for me it's for my son. I will be making him a scarf and hat to wear to HBP. PoA style if I can't find out what the new pattern design will be... Darn do you think I should go back and buy another gold? or 2? Maybe more red? Oh crap now I have buyers remorse remorse I'm second and triple thinking my purchases!

Well it's the last day of May and at my LYS they have a birthday discount and so well I went just to buy some white dk yarn to make my neice some shoes and then I saw these colors and almost fell over, not from shock but because little monster was in the sling and he was trying to do back flips out of it. Anyway so I grabbed up the yarn for the big monster. Since the big monster is away on vacation I've been buying him little toys and clothes and I've got a little care package stash going for him. So since he in on my mind I thought a nice relaxing knit in the round scarf and hat would be lovely to work on for him. I do have until November to finish them but I want to wait until the trailer for HBP comes out so I can see the scarves. He even wants a tie and I have a pattern to sew one but good luck finding the right fabric, a new potter color obsession right?

A Misserable Cold and a Wonderful Man

I wanted everyone to know something about my fabulous husband. Well maybe a few things about my wonderful hubby. I've been a little sick, my nose was running non stop all day Thursday and I'm normally the type of person who buys the earth friendly everything, toilet paper, tissue, organic milk, probiotics, flax seed in everything. Homeopathic medication I'm just a little crunchy that is all. But after rubbing my nose with the horrible recylced cardboard tissue paper all day long my nose hurt sooo bad so my wonderful husband went to the store in the middle of the night just to buy me some of those really nice soft tissues with lotions and potions in them. When my nose hurts those make it feel a lot better. He even bought 2 different kinds one with aloe the other with Vicks! Vicks! OMG I love these tissues with Vicks. Normally I would skip Vicks and buy a eucalyptus balm or something but Oh it's nice to baby yourself when you feel like crap. My nose feels alot better and I've had the humidifier going so yes I feel better now. He also got my my favorite ice cream Sticky Toffee Pudding from Hagen Daz and he got me 7up. Every time I was sick that is what I always wanted as a kid 7up and it still makes me feel better. I even got a neck rub out of it and a whole bunch of sympathy. I'm so glad I married him he's the perfect man for me. And now a super sweet picture.

PS my mom loved her socks! Yay! These socks were made with All Things Heather in the color Royal. The yarn is super soft and even softer after washed. I will have to buy some for myself. The pattern is called Berlin Muster by Kristin Benecken and it was the pattern for the second round of Sock Knitters Pentathlon 2008.

Ok so I sent an order out to the Loopyewe and here is what I got.


It's Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Bold Red and Butterscotch. Not too bad I think. I held the colors up to the Gryffindor patch on my robe and the colors match perfectly. Yay!

I want to make the Gryffindor Pride socks that Spinningmaid is working on. Similar to the hufflepuff and ravenclaw socks but with of course the gryffindor theme.
She says that she almost finished with the second sock. And will have the pattern available soon.

What do you think, should I practice colorwork on a different project first? I've never done colorwork before so sock plus colorwork might be nutty right?

I thought about making a small purse with colorwork or maybe a small bit on the top of a sock or something first. We'll see I have other things to occupy my knitting right now.

Crazier than the One Eyed Witch!

Ok I'm about to climb the stairs to the Owlrey and throw myself off. I search and I search but I can not find any DK weight yarn in Gryffindor colors hell I can't even find any sock weight in Gryffindor colors! My monsters need little hats and scarves and so do I and we are all gryffs. Well it may be too early to be sure but the littlest one could be a Slytherin he's so sneaky. But that isn't the point! I also want to make the really cool gryffindor pride socks for myself that Spinningmaid is designing and no nothing not one set of matching colors! A brick red but no gold or yellow a perfect gold and no red but more reds than golds to pick from. Blast you! Blast you all! All you yarn people! I may have to dye my own. It will take some work with the color wheel but I could probably work it out. Bah!

Aha! I found it! I just bought more than I will need for one pair of lorna's laces shepherd sock in red and butterscotch from the loopyewe. Yay! I'm so excited! Now to find something to make hats and scarves and what not. My lys has every shade of cascade 220 they make it seams like perhaps I'll have to break down and make worsted weight scarves. ;)

The Last book that wasn't illustrated that I read was an audio book called Prey by Michael Crichton and I am currently listening to Knife of Dreams book 11 in the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan the new and final Wheel of Time book is scheduled to come out next year and it had been so long since I read the books I've been borrowing the books on CD from the library to get caught up again.

Well I hadn't gotten around to introducing my Spoiler and Spoilee however we have been in contact and I happen to know a dirty little secret about my spoiler but I'll keep it to myself or her fellow Slytherins may get a little upset...

First my Spoilee, Ursula Longbottom a first year Hufflepuff. She has sadly had to leave a large black Labrador back at home.. So sad but we wouldn't want her dog chasing all the rats owls and cats around the castle now would we? She has a very nice school blog that makes me jealous!

My Spoiler is the lovely Perpetua Phoenixfire of Slytherin. She says that the common room in Slytherin house is pretty cool because of it being under the lake and all. She is excited about this new year at Hogwarts and she has been here before so she can help me along, but you never can expect too much help from someone in another house especially when it comes to Quiditch.
Speaking of quiditch first match is on my birthday! But we are celebrating my son's birthday that day too. He was born the day after me, I was in labor all day on my birthday yay me! So I have a birthday party to take care of that day but I will definitely make the time for Quiditch. Roar Roar Gryffindor!

Super Secret Knitting

You may have noticed that knitting has not made an appearance too often on my blog and even less of an appearance on Ravelry I am Sinknitty if you want to check me out. There are knitters on Ravelry that crank stuff out so fast I think they must have some kind of sleeping problem or extremely well behaved children.

Well yours truly is knitting up a test pattern for a well known and one of her favorite yarn companies South West Trading Company. When the project is all done and in the owner's hands I will ask if I can put pictures up until then it's off to knit and watch some boob tube, perhaps I will watch The Stand. I like that movie.

The Hubby is out making us some money by taking all of his friends money in a poker game tonight. Good thing too I'll need the extra cash to spoil my Hogwarts Sock Swap Kit 5 partner. As we all know I tend to go a little overboard.

Speaking of swaps the recipient of my last swap loved her socks and all the other stuff I packed in there from the Hogwarts Sock Swap 3 check out the booty I sent she took some really great pics, I always forget to take pics I'm always so excited to mail the stuff out, and her blog is Sarah_Iam
She is a really cool knitter from Canada AND she has a Harry Potter related tattoo. She has the Deathly Hallows symbol tattooed on her wrist. Wish I wasn't so flighty or I'd get a knitting tattoo but who knows I may end up hating it one day. Doubt it but I just can't make that kind of lifetime commitment. I'm really glad I never got that tattoo of Shamu how would I look as a mother of 2 almost 30 with a killer whale on my booby. After nursing 2 kids that would be one sad looking Orca. So because there are no pics right now here is the yarn I am useing to make some socks for my Mom.

I just finished the entire Dune Series I had read all the books Frank Herbert wrote and then I read most of the books his son Brian Herbert wrote after Frank died and then I started listening to the rest on CD and I just finished the last one that tied up everything that kind of got left hanging after Frank died. I really really enjoyed it and I'm not one to write letters to authors but if I could have I would have for this series but on the official Dune site I couldn't find contact info but they had a myspace so I made Dune my friend and left it a message. lol.

Hogwart's Sorting Hat says Gryfindor!

This is my first time participating in the Hogwarts Sock Kit Swap. Different in the last swap because instead of making your partner a pair of socks you send them the stuff to make their own socks and you make them something else with your own two hands. It is also not anonymous like the other swaps I've done and that is exciting.
This year I hope to make it into the dueling club it should be tons of fun blasting away at my fellow students, hope I get pitted against one of those death eating Slytherins!

Happy spell making! For now a little Potter related knitting done recently. This is an original design knitted then felted then stuffed. It is Harry's Wand! No one's eyes are going to get pocked out and the big monster even snuggles up with it at night on the days that he likes Harry Potter. 4 year olds are as bad as well... me! lol
