That could possibly do for scarves...I used it as Charmed Knits did, with a now-discontinued color of Baby Ull that you might still be able to get. They were very very different in weight, but it worked all right...the one color may wear before the other, but if the colorwork were on the leg, rather than the foot, I doubt it would matter even a tiny bit...<BR/><BR/>Anyway, wanted you to know that I gave a very extensive answer to your query about quills on my blog just now. I hope you are not disappointed that my pens are steel, rather than feather - I don't have the skill to cut my own feather pens yet, although I do intend to work on it.
